Just be a kid….

Posted on 05. Aug, 2010 by in Blog | 5 Comments

Nowadays, adults no longer dominanate the world, I think the kids do. Years ago you would not have imagined children below 10 are shooting like pros, using almost pro-equipments to shoot. They are creative, they are fragile, they are not to be messed with… ..so what can you do?

Simple, JUST be a kid… if you cannot fight them, join them… welcome to the shortside.

Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk “Penang lah”

Posted on 26. Jul, 2010 by in Events | 9 Comments

This is the third walk organized in Georgetown, and was my second walk.
It was an early morning walk, we started at 7am and ended around 9am. Journey surrounding the downtown area of Penang road, …Went to the morning Jalan Kuala Kangsar market, had some tea and famous toasts at Toh Soon cafe. Along the way we also enjoyed the freshly roasted sio bak, the business was so good that the whole sio tu was chopped up and sold within 10 minutes.

It was fun doing photowalk with a dozen of photo buddies.
Below are some of the shots this year. All shots were taken with the new Sony NEX-3 with some color edition in Photoshop.

Jocelyn

Jocelyn is unusually beautifully. By unusual I mean I neither know how to photograph her nor I know how to touch up the photos. The first impression I have when meeting Jocelyn was “wow”. Although I have shot many beautiful couples and pretty girls in the past, I have not have this “wow” feeling for quite some time….Hahaha~~ It was simply awesome.
Thanks to Kobian for inviting me to this challenging session.
Here are some of the casual shots, without any posing on purpose :)

Eu Chun * Lay Khim (Preview)

Posted on 02. Jul, 2010 by in Pre-Wedding, Wedding | 7 Comments

Congratulations to my neighbors :)
Eu Chun lives just a block away from me. They proposed this 60′s theme with an old Volkswagen Bus, and they actually found a Volkswagen Bus classic, from another neighbor opposite our block :) It was truly a community project.
Here are the results from the “collaboration project”, and I am looking forward to their wedding day in September … (more to come later…)

Ed Win * Claire

Claire and Ed Win, a very fun couple with a large group of very sporting heng-tai and beautiful chi-mui. Love the shooting session at the field, it was absolutely fun-filled :)

This is also my first time working together with Jessen, a well known wedding videographer in Penang. We have known each other online for quite some time, but through the wedding of Ed Win and Claire, I had the opportunity to work with one of the best in Penang.

Thank you Ed Win and Claire for the refreshing and fun wedding ceremony and reception. I wish you two all the best.

The state of God Mountain

Posted on 13. May, 2010 by in Travel | 6 Comments

It took me more than 30 years to visit all 13 states of Malaysia. In 2010, I stepped foot on Sabah, the final state in Malaysia. It is an unplanned trip if not for an assignment to Kota Kinabablu. Although I did not have time to visit Sipadan and climb the Mount Kota Kinabalu, but a trip to Kota Kinabalu town is all worthy.

It is quite different from Penang. People enjoying their normal life in KK, orang asli are all around me and the people are not camera shy ;) However, the food is a bit more expensive than Penang.

I had a great experience meeting the friends/chi mui/heng tai from Penang, Sabah & Australia and enjoyed very much to walk around and ate exotic food in KK. Will definitely go back to Sabah again to visit sipadan and Mont. Kota Kinabalu one day.
