Chin Teik * Joyce

Posted on 21. Sep, 2010 by in Wedding

Last Saturday was the day my secondary school mates celebrate our 15th anniversary alumni dinner at my secondary school hall. It was also the day, my schoolmate, Chin Teik’s wedding.

It was a memorable day, for after quite a while, I walked into the church again. The people at the church were friendly, smiling all the time. I love it :) there are many photogenic faces and many activities happening during the ceremony. So many emotions and activities, all harmoniously blend in with the hymnals singing by the choir. The mood was joyous and serene.

oh, thanks for the cupcakes, Joyce… My wife and daughter like them very much :P

Below is the same-day-edit slideshow collaboration with my photo buddy luffu. Congratulations to Chin Tek and Joyce.

* my girl

Posted on 07. Sep, 2010 by in Children/Family

My heart melted when she called me papa for the first time. It is a truly amazing experience when my own daughter called me. Now I understand why other parents are sooooooo particular about their children calling them papa / mama :P However, she some how forgotten the word papa once in a while, and apparently she only calls out papa in the morning… hmm…..need more training :0

Yee Qian is now 10 months old… :P It has been quite some time since I take photos of my daughter, so the other day I have decided to take her to our garden for a session of father+mother+daughter quality time cum photoshoot. It was a brief session for only about 15 minutes, the rain came unexpectedly…. :(

I think her grandma fed her too much porridge, she is very strong. She can climbed up the slider from bottom to top, and also able to pull herself up to a standing position… OK, I have a strong girl… maybe I should send her to learn wing chun one day !

After the shoot, I found that shooting baby is not easy, they are either too active or too boring, sometimes too emotional, sometimes just refused to cooperate and just want to be with daddy or mommy. It was easier for regular snap shots rather than a photo session. Parents, from a father to another, let me share with you, using a DSLR is just too big and too heavy to get candid shots when you are taking care of your child while shooting at the same time. The digicam is a much better choice of tool. Here, can you see the differences below :)

This is a photoshoot of Trust and Incidental. I received a call from a girl one day, at the first hello, I was already fallen for her sweet sweet voice. She was asking for a Pre Wed shoot in Batu Ferringhi and immediately I said OK. Usually I meet up with my clients first before I accept the assignment, but with that sweet voice of hers, I trust that they would be a nice couple to work with.
I was right, the shoot went really well and we traverse along the beach from the Ship restaurant to Hard Rock hotel. The journey was fun and somewhat …. lovely\

Here are some of my favourite selections :P & and thanks to my photo buddy “shi png” for joining us :)

one of my closest and best partner in wedding assignments ;) she is the art director, the beauty creator, the main person behind most of my wedding shots. Finally she herself is tieing the knot, and I am really honored to shoot her pre-wedding photos, yoo hooo ….
we did the shoot at Rasa Sayang, to some extent it is quite difficult because i knew her too well and she also knows the process too well….oh well, these are what turned out, hope she likes them :)

Just be a kid….

Posted on 05. Aug, 2010 by in Blog

Nowadays, adults no longer dominanate the world, I think the kids do. Years ago you would not have imagined children below 10 are shooting like pros, using almost pro-equipments to shoot. They are creative, they are fragile, they are not to be messed with… ..so what can you do?

Simple, JUST be a kid… if you cannot fight them, join them… welcome to the shortside.

Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk “Penang lah”

Posted on 26. Jul, 2010 by in Events

This is the third walk organized in Georgetown, and was my second walk.
It was an early morning walk, we started at 7am and ended around 9am. Journey surrounding the downtown area of Penang road, …Went to the morning Jalan Kuala Kangsar market, had some tea and famous toasts at Toh Soon cafe. Along the way we also enjoyed the freshly roasted sio bak, the business was so good that the whole sio tu was chopped up and sold within 10 minutes.

It was fun doing photowalk with a dozen of photo buddies.
Below are some of the shots this year. All shots were taken with the new Sony NEX-3 with some color edition in Photoshop.

Jocelyn is unusually beautifully. By unusual I mean I neither know how to photograph her nor I know how to touch up the photos. The first impression I have when meeting Jocelyn was “wow”. Although I have shot many beautiful couples and pretty girls in the past, I have not have this “wow” feeling for quite some time….Hahaha~~ It was simply awesome.
Thanks to Kobian for inviting me to this challenging session.
Here are some of the casual shots, without any posing on purpose :)

Eu Chun * Lay Khim (Preview)

Posted on 02. Jul, 2010 by in Pre-Wedding, Wedding

Congratulations to my neighbors :)
Eu Chun lives just a block away from me. They proposed this 60′s theme with an old Volkswagen Bus, and they actually found a Volkswagen Bus classic, from another neighbor opposite our block :) It was truly a community project.
Here are the results from the “collaboration project”, and I am looking forward to their wedding day in September … (more to come later…)
